Press Release: Lehigh Valley H.O.P.E. gives back!

PRESS RELEASE

Lehigh Valley H.O.P.E. starts giving back to the local community in need!

BETHLEHEM, PA, FEBRUARY 3, 2017 – Since its opening in early October 2016, Lehigh Valley H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Every day) has already helped many adults and children with free clothing and housewares donated by the Lehigh Valley community.

Located inside the Executive Education Academy Charter School (EEACS), Lehigh Valley H.O.P.E.’s Community Resource Room helps those who are transitioning out of homelessness, have lost everything due to a fire or other emergency, lost a job, etc. It is often a huge burden to families who do not have enough money to purchase necessities, and that’s where Lehigh Valley H.O.P.E.’s Community Resource Room comes in!

Between October-December 2016, 77 referrals were received by 31 agencies, helping over 170 children and 65 adults. 4 referrals were the result of losses due to fires, and 50 referrals were due to other emergency needs. A total of 1,487 items of clothing were distributed, ranging from winter coats to shoes. Over 1,000 housewares were also distributed to help those with basic needs.

Other related facts about Lehigh Valley H.O.P.E.’s launch:

  • Two Boy Scouts earned their Eagle Award helping with related projects
  • Over 100 community service hours earned by students from 4 different schools
  • 30+ retirees from RSVP volunteered to help.

We are very honored and blessed to have support from the local community that provides our donations, two wonderful volunteer coordinators room helping every week, plus our countless volunteers, staff and support from the EEACS, and many more who are supporting us on other levels.
